Warmguard Pledge £30,000 to Support Adelie Penguins

WWF charity officials are over the moon that a UK based supplier of gas boilers has donated a whopping £30,000 to help support the conservation of Adélie penguins. WarmGuard will also be giving away free Adopt a Penguin packs to the first 250 customers who purchase a new gas boiler and central heating policy online

Managing Director of WarmGuard, John Colinswood, said –

WarmGuard are committed to protecting the future of the Adélie penguins. We are all responsible for the protection and future of our planet and its many species, and as a socially responsible business WarmGuard are delighted to be able to provide the much needed funding for this research work. We are confident that our partnership with WWF and project funding will go a long way in helping the future survival of these delightful penguins.

What an amazingly generous donation! The £30,000 will be used to help fund research in the South Orkney Islands to understand the foraging behaviour of Adélies and the effects of climate change in the region. A team of British scientists will be based on Signy Island to carry on the long term penguin research that is already in place in the region.

With Penguin populations declining across the whole Antarctica Peninsula and in the South Orkney Islands, hopefully this extraordinary donation will help WWF to continue their ground breaking work to help the Adélie Penguins fight for survival.

Tobin Aldrich, Director of Fundraising at WWF, said –

We are thrilled to be working in partnership with WarmGuard and absolutely delighted with the £30,000 that WarmGuard are giving us which will enable us to carry out new and vital research on Adélie Penguins within the new Marine Protected Area in Antarctica.
